AT&T-Connected Lenovo Laptops, From $420

AT&T and Lenovo have announced the exclusive availability and compatibility of two Lenovo laptops with AT&T’s wireless network. The affordable Lenovo 300e Chromebook starts at $420 and connects via AT&T’s 4G LTE broadband. There’s also an option to pay for it over 36-months at the cost of $11.67/month.

The Lenovo 300e series, initially introduced in 2018, is a reasonably successful Chromebook first aimed at the education market before reaching the broader consumer market. The latest 2021 version has an 11.6” HD (720p) touch display and has rugged properties such as spill-resistant and somewhat shock-resistant.

It is a clamshell device that opens to 360-degrees in case you want to use it in “tablet” mode, and the 4GB of RAM (+32GB of storage) can run all essential web apps or Android apps.

The 47Wh battery is said to last long enough to go on a school day on a single charge, but it depends on things like display brightness and computing activity.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X13

The Lenovo ThinkPad X13 is the second laptop that AT&T is promoting. It is a classic thin & light 2.88 Lbs ThinkPad equipped with a 13.3-inch display.

That one can connect to AT&T’s 5G network to yield better average broadband connectivity and speed. Inside, you will find an 11th-gen Intel processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 57.4Wh battery, which is in line with the competition in this market segment.

Existing AT&T phone users can add a laptop to their plan for $20/mo., but it’s also possible to opt for one of the data-only plans.

If you can afford it, there’s no question an integrated broadband connection is much better and more practical than using smartphone tethering. Obviously, using your smartphone as a laptop modem is okay in a pinch, but it’s not that great if you need the laptop to be constantly connected.
