LogMeIn Will Spin LastPass Off As A Standalone Company

If you’re familiar with password managers, then you might also be familiar with LastPass which is one of several password managers out there. The service is actually owned by LogMeIn who have recently announced that they will be spinning off LastPass to become a standalone company.

According to the announcement, “By establishing LastPass as a standalone business, the company plans to increase investment in the customer experience, go- to-market functions and engineering to accelerate its organic growth in password management, Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-factor Authentication (MFA). Customers will experience planned enhancements on an accelerated timeline in 2022, with the benefit of additional dedicated LastPass resources.”

As to what this will mean for regular users? Probably nothing, but the announcement that they plan to “accelerate” growth with dedicated resources sounds like a good thing. An accompanying post on the LastPass website also suggests that we could look forward to features like faster and seamless fills and saves of login information.

According to the post, “We are working on faster, seamless save and fill, a delightful mobile experience, and even more third-party integrations for businesses, among many other updates. We are expanding our support channels so we can answer your questions faster, right when you need them, and you’ll be welcomed by a new look and feel on our website.”
