How To Turn Off Autocorrect On iPhone

Some of you might recall that in the early days of the iPhone, there were a ton of memes that were created that attributed to how Autocorrect on the iPhone was changing words in hilarious ways. Some of it was true, some of it was fake, but regardless, it highlighted how the feature can sometimes be a bit annoying, especially if you type fast and have to go back to make changes.

While autocorrect on the iPhone has gotten a lot better and smarter these days, we’re sure that there are probably some who might appreciate being able to turn off the feature. If you’re one of them, you’re in luck because the steps below will guide you through turning off autocorrect on your iPhone.

How To Turn Off Your iPhone’s Autocorrect

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Go to Keyboard
  3. Tap on the Auto-Correction toggle to turn it off (it should be grey if it has been disabled)
  4. Repeat the process above to turn it back on

We should note that by disabling autocorrect, it means that your iPhone will no longer correct your typos. While this is great for those who talk in slang or in a different language, it might be more detrimental than useful. Instead, if you do use a lot of non-traditional words, iOS does learn over time your preferred words and won’t autocorrect them, so that’s something to consider.

By the way, Android users can do the same thing by following our How To Disable Autocorrect on Android tutorial.
