Android 5.1.1 is the last major iteration of Google’s mobile platform prior to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and while OEMs and carriers take their sweet time in putting together this update, at least one device on the nation’s second largest carrier is making the jump from Android 5.0 to Android 5.1.1. AT&T is now rolling out Android 5.1.1 for the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active.
Last year’s Note flagships are finally getting the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update on AT&T, the carrier has rolled out said update for the Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy Note 4. It may not be the latest publicly available version of Android but it’s the most recent one for these two handsets, most users across the country should have received an update notification by now.
There is some good news today for people who own the Galaxy Core Prime on Verizon, this entry-level smartphone was launched late last year and it came with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. However, in the latest move, T-Mobile has initiated the roll out of the latest Android 5.1.1 version for the Galaxy S5 as well. The update turns the build number to build number to G900TUVU1FOF6, although, the announcement is not yet made official by T-Mobile.
Samsung has jumped on the Android 5.1.1 bandwagon even though the update has so far only been released by T-Mobile in the United States and that too only for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
