selfieWhile selfies can prove helpful, selfies can also land people in all sorts of trouble and recently in Mexico City, it seems that a man was fatally shot for taking a selfie – by himself. Yup, you did not read that wrong. According to a handful of reports, a 21 year old veterinarian from Mexico City accidentally shot himself in the head while posing for a selfie.

We’re not sure if he accidentally pulled the trigger instead of pressing the shutter button, but according to witnesses, the man was unaware that the gun was loaded and was waving it around before it went off and shot him. Surprisingly he did not die from the initial shot and was still alive when the ambulance arrive, but tragically he died along the way.

According to his neighbor, Manfredo Paez Paez, “I heard a gunshot, and then I heard somebody screaming and realized somebody had been hurt. I called the police and when they arrived they found that he was still alive.” The reports also claim that the man was someone who was always on the lookout for the coolest selfies possible.

Previous photos taken by the victim showed him posing in front of fast cars, posing in a band, and also photos of him hugging beautiful women. This is not the first accident to result from a selfie and we doubt it will be the last, but it does serve as a reminder that there’s a time and place for everything.
