CES 2007 – Skype must be the second accessories generator after the iPod, for the best, of course. The Belkin Wi-Fi Phone for Skype was shown in their booth. The device is can connect to Skype via a Wi-Fi network, without the need for a computer. It works on networks secured by WPA and WPA2, however it’s not clear if it is compatible with WEP, another popular way to secure a wireless network.
It is important to realize that this phone will not work with a network that requires a web-based authentification (you enter a login/password in the browser), that would include the T-mobile hotspots or similar paid networks.
If you are a heavy Skype user who is interested by this device, make sure that it is compatible with your network.
