SMC has the budget-conscious in mind when they released their own 802.11n router known as the Barricade WBR14S, providing a similar 300Mbps peak speed as other 802.11n WiFi routers without breaking the bank. It managed to achieve this sensitive balance by using the 2.4GHz band for its wireless connections as well as as a quartet of 100Mbps Ethernet ports instead of Gigabit ports found on premium routers. Thankfully, SMC did not skimp on security as the Barricade WBR14S comes with a hardware firewall and WPA2 wireless protection and a one-button security setup process. It is currently available for a mere $60.
