Auto Anti-Theft System With GPS And Phone

Trust the young minds from the University of Saskatchewan to come up with an anti-theft system for vehicles by merging a cell phone’s text messaging capabilities alongside a vehicle’s computer system. This prototype aims to help you recover your stolen vehicle’s location, where you will first need to whip out your handset and send a quick text message to your vehicle, where the latter will quickly initiate a shutdown process so that the thieves will be immobilized where they are at that very instant. Of course, it does this in a vey humane way as the vehicle will enter a limited power mode for approximately half a minute, which should be ample time for whoever drives it to pull over a the side. The prototype costs around $600, so hopefully the final system will get enough investment to have it commercialized at a much cheaper cost to consumers.
