Rescue Stick do well to save lives

The Rescue Stick is a baton-shaped concept device that ought to be made mandatory on any ocean-going vessel, since it comes with strings that will experience a chemical reaction the moment they hit the water, dissolving to unveil a horse-shoe shaped float. Just in case the reaction fails, there is always the classic back-up plan of inflating the float manually, presumably using a straw just like the traditional life jacket.
