Fab-Fi Homemade Wi-Fi Over In Afghanistan

Don’t have the Wi-Fi network of your dreams? Well, if what the volunteers in Afghanistan can do it, you can do it too. We’re talking about the “Fab Fi” wireless network that’s made largely out of junk that was scrounged from the area. What you see above is a makeshift reflector made from pieces of board, wire, vegetable oil cans and a plastic tub. This resulted in 25 simultaneous live nodes being set up in the city of Jalalabad, allowing residents to enjoy a stable connection, and they’re also expanding the network by adding more reflectors. So it looks like home-made Wi-Fi is here to stay.
