New Organic Solar PV Technology In The Works
A startup company called Eight19 which is a collaborative effort of Cambridge University’s Cavendish Laboratory and the UK environmental group Carbon Trust is working on a new organic solar PV technology that might bring about a useful advancement in solar technology. The solar panels from Eight19 will be built using a flexible transparent material that can be easily unrolled, making it versatile and convenient to use. It’s claimed that the organic photovoltaics (OPV) do not operate like solar conductors; rather they work on a principle similar to photosynthesis in plants. This technology could be the used to churn out solar panels that are similar to transparent plastic sheets, allowing them to be used in various scenarios, such as a window pane.
