Nvidia showcases robotic cardiac surgery

Nvidia might soon have a major presence in operating theaters, recently showcasing their “beating heart surgery” procedure that is GPU-enabled. This will assist cardiac doctors to perform the heart surgery in a safer manner, helping reduce the cost of surgery and more importantly, trauma to the patient. We could very well say that this is a development and improvement of minimally invasive surgery [MIS], where patients will benefit via shortening convalescence, a reduction of trauma and surgery costs. Surely insurance companies would be pleased to hear of this since they will have less claims to pay out. The question is this – will private hospitals that employ Nvidia’s solution up their fees since you have to pay more to reduce trauma?
