Apple iPhone wins the Best Mobile Device Award at the Mobile World Congress

If anyone can make an impact without even showing up, it has to be Apple. At the Mobile World Congress, the fruity Cupertino company was nowhere to be found (understandable since they prefer to host their own launch events anyway) – but that didn’t stop them from being the topic of discussion despite the plethora of Android and other devices that made their debut at the event. To make matters worse, it was announced that Apple won the MWC 2011 Award for Best Mobile – for their iPhone 4. A phone that is months away from being a year old! (And in this fast paced technology world, one year is a very long time). Talk about adding salt to the wound. The judges for the award cited the iPhone 4 as having a “great screen, sharp design, fantastic materials, and phenomenal ecosystem for app developers. In a tight race, the iPhone 4 built on the success of its predecessors to set the pace for smart phones.” Sounds other phone manufacturers have got to try harder if they want to win the prestigious MWC award next year.
