Next iPhone won’t have NFC?
According to some rumors online, NFC, a communications standard that’s been slowly gaining traction in the US this year won’t be present on the next Apple iPhone. Reasons cited for the exclusion is Apple’s concern about the lack of a clear standard across the industry. Another reason for not supporting NFC is the rumor that Apple is also planning to introduce its very own version of NFC next year. It’ll be interesting to see how well Apple does with its own communication standard, seeing how introducing one more format isn’t going to make the NFC standard any clearer. Either, we don’t even know if NFC will catch on worldwide, and if it be important enough for manufacturers to warrant the inclusion of NFC chips in all their upcoming phones.
