Who would have thought that a relatively old smartphone would have enough processing muscle to solve complex problems and puzzles? Granted, it isn’t exactly harnessing the power of the HTC Desire to find a cure for cancer, but what we have here is a bunch of Lego bricks and a Mindstorms NXT kit that will use the HTC Desire as its brain. An app running on the smartphone will use the handset’s camera to capture individual images of each of the puzzle’s dozen faces, followed by processing such information before sending a signal over Bluetooth to the NXT controller, which will get to work right away.
