The Walkman name has certainly gone through many levels of evolution, starting first from just the simple cassette player, eventually evolving to a portable media player that carries the MP3 format. Even then, it has also moved over to the cell phone format, and one of their latest efforts would be the Sony Ericsson Mix Walkman phone. Touted to deliver the best of music entertainment, it will also come with Zappin, which is a new fun way to search your songs if you have a huge catalogue that you cannot remember.

The Zappin key will make it a snap to look for your favorite song, where all you need to do is press the Zappin key in order to preview the chorus of the next track, before you decide on whether you want to treat your ears to that particular song or not. If you think that you can do better than those teens on the Americon Idol Season 10 final, then make full use of the karaoke function which will lower the vocal track from any song instantly, letting you sing to your heart’s content.

No word on pricing, but the Sony Ericsson Mix Walkman phone is tipped to arrive sometime in the third quarter of this year. This does not seem as though it will help pull Sony Ericsson out from the doldrums, but at least they’re trying, no? [Press Release]
