BlackBerry Playbook going for just $99

You know the age old saying, if at first you don’t succeed, try again. I guess the same applies to Research In Motion with their BlackBerry Playbook, where this particular tablet device has not been doing too well in terms of its sales figures, and yet did not fail that bad that the manufacturer themselves, RIM, has to take the drastic action of pulling it out from the market. Just in case $199 sounds like more than what you would be willing to pay for for the Playbook, here is a deal that RIM wants to cut with you. Only if you are an employee, of course, as different sources claim that this 16GB tablet will be made available to RIM employees courtesy of a special corporate portal for $99 a pop. If you want the 32GB model, then that would set you back by another $50, while the 64GB model will retail for $199. Of course, in order not to make a quick profit, employees are able to order only up to eight models at most. I guess this signals the fact that it is only a matter of time before a QNX-powered tablet will hit eBay. What do you think – should RIM just pull the plug on the Playbook for good?
