Motorola knows that the world’s economy isn’t exactly in the pink of health at the moment – hence they figured out that there is a market for budget-friendly smartphones, where the company decides to balance functionality and price in the form of the Motorola Fire XT. This will be an Android 2.3-powered device that sports a bright 3.5″ touchscreen display alongside two cameras (one 5-megapixel shooter at the back and another in front for video calls and self-portraits), amongst other features which we’ll take a look at.

You can also use the Moto Switch user interface so that one can switch between friend and work-centric modes, useful when you are at the office and when the clock strikes five to signal that it is time to let your hair down. The 800MHz processor ought to get the job done well, while 512MB of internal memory can be further augmented by the microSD memory card slot.

Available in just dark titanium (sorry, if you’re looking for a rainbow choice of colors, you will need to knock on someone else’s door, perhaps if your neighbor is a Finn?), where it is tipped to arrive in Italy at the end of this month for 199 Euros sans contract. [Press Release]
