Sony NSZ-GP9 Google TV Blu-ray Disc Player

[CES 2012] It looks like Sony hasn’t given up on Google TV just yet. Today, the company announced the brand new set top box, the NSZ-GP9: a Blu-ray disc player that’s powered by Google TV (Android). In addition to being able to play your Blu-ray discs, users will be able to run apps that are downloadable from the Android Market – which means access to a whole load of additional content on the player. Bored of watching movies and shows? Just launch an app like Netflix, Pandora, YouTube or HBO Go; or play some games on the player itself! Or you could just launch the web browser and just surf the web.

The player comes with an exclusive touchpad remote with a 3-axis motion control, finger gesture control, voice search and a backlit QWERTY keyboard. No word on pricing but it should be available this summer. For those of you who don’t need to watch Blu-ray discs, Sony also has the Blu-ray-less NSZ-GS7 Network Media Player powered by Google TV which will be out this Spring.
