Toyota shows off TES-ERA sports EV concept

Concept cars are cool since they’re usually designed in such a way that makes us wish they would actually be put into production (which rarely is the case). For fans of concept cars, you might want to take a look at what Toyota’s Engineering Society has cooked up in the form of the TES-ERA EV, an electric vehicle (EV) sports car which is based off the Toyota Sera two-door coupe produced in the 1990’s.

This project was a collaboration project between the Toyota Engineering Society and the public. In one instance they even got elementary school children to help design its color scheme which features a Milky Way theme (as pictured on the body of the car). The concept of the vehicle is said to be customizable whereby even the look of the meters on your dashboard can be changed at will.

As far as its innards are concerned, the Toyota TES-ERA EV features a motor and inverter which is based off the Lexux RX hybrid system. It sports a 15.7kWh lithium-ion battery with a range of 80km (urban driving) and with a motor output of 123kW. Check out the video below to see the car on display at an automotive exhibition.
