So we know that the second DLC for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has already been released, which looks set to be downloaded many times over, considering how the game itself has already picked up 1.5 million paid subscribers since it was launched just in November last year. This is definitely in stark contrast to what Blizzard’s MMORPG, World of Warcraft, is currently experiencing, having lost yet another 100,000 subscribers in the latest census. With over 7 million players having already registered to use the service (Call of Duty: Elite), Activision is clearly more than happy with the figures related to the game title. Call of Duty: Elite boasts of a free component alongside statistics and other data that players are able to go through, while the annual subscription offers users early access to downloadable maps in addition to other content. There will be a third DLC (downloadable content) that is being prepared for a rollout later this month, and I am quite sure that will not hurt Activision’s subscriber base figures in any way.
