Photographers who enjoy the clarity and picture quality that comes from using Carl Zeiss lenses will be pleased to learn that the company has recently announced a set of four new Cine lenses. These new lenses will be compatible with an E-mount camera and is expected to start shipping come August 2012. The first three will fall under Carl Zeiss’ “Compact Prime” series of lenses, although based on its size we can hardly call it “compact”.

The CP.2 35/T1.5 Super Speed will come with a retail price of $4,900, while the CP.2 50/T1.5 Super Speed and the CP.2 85/T1.5 Super Speed will go for $4,500. Last but not least is the CZ.2 70-200/T2.9 lens, a lens that weighs a rather hefty 2.8kg and features an 18-blade aperture and a Carl Zeiss T* anti-reflection coating. How much will that bad boy cost you? Time to start digging deep in your pockets as the CZ.2 70-200/T2.9 lens will retail for a staggering $19,900. Ouch. Curious as to what sort of quality your money will be able to get you? Check out the video below which is a demo reel shot using the CP.2 Super Speed lenses.
