Earlier this month we reported on the Mac Hackstore which is essentially what Cydia is to jailbroken iOS devices. The good news for those who were intrigued by the Hackstore is that it is now available for users on Apple’s OS X computers for download. For those unfamiliar, the Hackstore is basically a store similar to Cydia, the iTunes App Store and the Mac App Store, except that it will provide users access to apps that might have otherwise been not allowed onto the official App Stores by Apple.

For those who might be thinking that this will provide them with free apps like how jailbroken iOS devices can illegally download paid apps for free, think again! The Hackstore’s project leader, Andrey Fedotov, has stated that there will be no piracy allowed into the Hackstore and that it will remain free of pirated and illegal content. If you’re an OS X user looking to go beyond what Apple’s Mac Store has to offer, the Hackstore can be downloaded via it’s website.
