If you love dressing up as your favorite cartoon character and indulge in cosplay sessions all too often, you would definitely be familiar with those large, padded cat paws as well as cat ear headbands. Well, a mind-controlled pair of mechanical cat ears from Neurowear is well on its way, where a consumer version of it will roll out later this month. We did talk about the Necomimi sometime last year, but to hear about it being prepared for a mass release just saw me wet my pants. The Necomimi cat ears must be seen at work to be believed – they perk up whenever the wearer is concentrating on something, and will lie flat when the wearer relaxes. Do check out a video of it in action after the jump.

According to Neurowear, “People think that our bodies have limitations, but just imagine if we had organs that don’t exist, and could control that new body? We created new human organs that use a brainwave sensor. Necomimi is the new communication tool that augments the human bodies and abilities. This cat’s ear shaped machine utilizes brainwaves and expresses your emotional state before you start talking. Just put on Necomimi and if you are concentrating, this cat’s ear shaped machine will rise. When you are relaxed, your new ears lie down.”

It is expected to sell for approximately $97 at the “Nico Nico Choukaigi” (Nico Nico Super Conference) convention which will happen at Makuhari Messi in Chiba from April 28th to the 29th. This price is a special discount, as the actual retail price stands at $110.
