Remember our story yesterday that talked about how an old school chapel was mapped in 3D, and using nothing but a laser pointer that points at various parts in the chapel, it will be able to light up and play a corresponding note? Well, here is yet another audio sensitive invention known as the Noisy Jelly. Sounds good enough to eat, but if you are hungry, you would do very well to look elsewhere since its primary purpose is not meant to be eaten, but make music. This touch sensitive musical instrument is the brainchild of French design students Raphaël Pluvinage and Marianne Cauvard. Basically, Noisy Jelly is a game where one needs to cook and shape your very own musical material which is made out of colored jelly.

A color will be associated with a certain kind of sound, and for example’s sake, it could be bass or a melody, where you place the jelly shape on the game board. Touch the jelly in different regions, and various corresponding sounds will kick into action. Technically speaking, the game board itself functions as a capacitive sensor, while variations of the shape and their salt concentration, the distance, and the strength of the finger contact are detected and transform into an audio signal.
