Nokia makes fun of iPhone ahead of Lumia 900 launch

Yes, we do know that pre-orders for the Nokia Lumia 900 have already started at AT&T and Walmart, with a white version also being prepared for a debut soon, but what other way did Nokia employ to bring more attention to their upcoming flagship model that runs on the Windows Phone operating system? A huge ad campaign is one of the traditional methods, and the Finnish smartphone manufacturer decided to stick to this tried and true road, starting off by having some fun at the expense of Apple’s iPhone 4S. Check out all three ads by Nokia after the jump.

There is a new website known as smartphonebetatest.com that features former Saturday Night Live star Chris Parnell waiting patiently in a room surrounded by monitors, sporting a clock that is ticking down to April 6th, located right above him. At the bottom lies a trio of videos, where each one will display executives who are rather reluctant to accept the flaws of a device which is all too similar to the iPhone. There will also be a narrator saying at the start of the video, “If you ever thought that maybe your smartphone wasn’t all it’s cracked up to be, that’s because it wasn’t.” Perhaps Nokia is taking a leaf out of Motorola’s book, where Verizon’s 2009 ads for the Motorola droid poked fun at the iPhone and established Android as a force to be reckoned with.
