If you’ve heard of games like Guitar Hero, Dance Dance Revolution and O2Jam in the past, the concept of this newly announced game for the PS Vita will be easier to grasp except that it has a little bit of a twist added to the mix. KickBeat is a music-combat game which has just been announced by Sony for its PlayStation Vita. As opposed to the arrows and columns like on Tap Tap Revenge, this one actually makes use of four different directions (up, down, left and right) and incorporates a typical battle scene in those old kung-fu movies where all the baddies surround the good guy and wait for their turn to attack.

By getting a music note wrong, your character will suffer some damage. On the other hand, if you were to get a note right on the money, it will result in your character staving off an attack and delivering an epic counter-attacking move. According to Sony, the game by Zen Studios has a beat-matching mechanism that isn’t complex but the game itself is immediately identified as a fighting game rather than one that requires beat-matching. Featuring artists like Rob Zombie, P.O.D and Marilyn Manson, we look set to hear more about this game that merged music and 3D-fighting together at this year’s E3. Embedded above for your viewing convenience is KickBeat’s Announcement Trailer; enjoy.
