icar

For quite some time now, bits and snippets of the late Steve Jobs’ life has been trickling down the grapevine. Now it seems there was another one and this is the concept of what could have been an automobile designed by Apple. Apparently, Jobs dreamed of designing what he called an iCar before he died. In an interview with Fast Company recently, Mickey Drexler who is a board member of Apple as well as the CEO of J.Crew revealed the closet-dream that Jobs once had to build an Apple branded automobile.

He said, “Look at the car industry; it’s a tragedy in America. Who is designing cars? Steve’s dream before he died was to design an iCar. It would’ve been probably 50% of the market. He never did design it.” That said however, an impression of what the Apple iCar complete with its ubiquitous emblem might look like, was drawn out by a designer called Franco Grassi. With Apple products being one of the popular selections of consumers in the US, what’s to say something even as outrageous as this couldn’t become popular? On a personal note however, I would definitely prefer doors.
