iPhone 4, I choose you!

What you see above is cited to be an extremely rare example of an iPhone 4 prototype that is currently on sale on eBay for a cool $4,500 as its starting bid, although those who do not want anyone else to challenge for it can “Buy It Now” for a cool ten grand. This iPhone 4 prototype/tester unit is said to be extremely limited in numbers, and had never seen the light on eBay as claimed by the seller. Sporting 32GB of storage space, the special back is clamped onto the body sans screws at the bottom.

Touted to be “a functional representation of this design”, it is powered by Apple’s software testing suite known as SwitchBoard, where it is used to test the device’s functionality. The seller claims that normally, such prototypes have been disabled by Apple, but somehow he/she managed to get hold of a fully working model. The battery has been replaced by an OEM iPhone battery since it was claimed to have been removed by Apple. Are you interested in a slice of potential history? Also, don’t you think that the logo at the back of the iPhone 4 prototype depicts a Pokeball?
