HTC Windows Phone 8S Finally Arrives

At its NYC event today, HTC released two phones running on Microsoft Windows Phone 8. Among them is the HTC Windows Phone 8S, which is a middle-market device intended for first-time smartphone buyers and those looking to get into Windows Phone without purchasing a high-end device. Windows Phone 7 always had a plethora of devices that weren’t high-end, but were very nice, and the HTC Windows Phone One S carries that banner. 

There are three specs that make it clear that the 8S is a lower-end device: the screen is 4″ but only runs at 800×480 resolution, the camera produces 5-megapixel images with a 35mm lens with a maximum f/2.8 aperture, and the Qualcomm is only clocked at 1 GHz. That being said, it is a handsome phone with a quirky two-tone design, and the size feels right for people switching from an iPhone.

The device runs Microsoft’s forthcoming Windows Phone 8, and features 4G LTE on AT&T and Verizon in the United States. The device is due to become available by TK at a price around $100TK with a contract.
