Apple Tests HDTV Prototypes

At the end of Steve Jobs’ life, it was said that he was interested in changing the way TVs are in the future, and Apple’s current CEO, Tim Cook, has also mentioned something along the same vein. An Apple TV that is very different from the one that is in the market would definitely reinvigorate the scene, and it could be the next big thing from Apple. Following that, there are whispers on the ground that Apple is currently testing a bunch of HDTV prototypes with manufacturing partner Hon Hai, although this does not mean that we will see a new hardware launch within what’s left of this calendar year.

Focus Taiwan claims that initial testing of Apple’s own-brand TV sets has been happening at Hon Hai, where the display panels on the prototypes has been speculated to range from 46” to 55”, with a variety of designs being tested. In fact, some folks have even mentioned that Apple will only debut their HDTV sometime in 2014 at the earliest. What do you think of it? Will the industry standard screen size change by then, or will Apple attempt to dictate to viewers just what the ideal screen size should be?
