Jury finds that Apple and LG did not infringe upon Alcatel-Lucent’s patents

Back in November, we reported that Alcatel-Lucent had gone after both Apple and LG, alleging that both companies had infringed upon their patent. As it turns out that may no longer be the case as the jury has exonerated both Apple and LG and have found that neither company has infringed upon Alcatel-Lucent’s patents. For those who might have missed the news, Alcatel-Lucent claims that Apple and LG infringed upon their patent regarding video compression and named the iPhone and other LG devices in their suit. It seems that they were seeking bout $173 million in damages from both companies. Safe to say both Apple and LG must be pretty chuffed at this news, although we guess celebrations aren’t necessarily in order, especially since Apple was recently found guilty of infringing upon MobileMedia’s patents in a separate lawsuit.
