HTC One’s Delay Could Also Be Attributed To HTC No Longer Being A “Tier One” Customer To Their Manufacturers

We’re sure that many of you guys have heard by now that the HTC One would be delayed, but why the delay you ask? Well according to our previous post, one of the reasons behind the delay is due to camera component shortages, or at least that’s what we were told. However according to a report by the Wall Street Journal, the real reason behind the delay is because HTC might have lost the trust of the component manufacturers and might have had its “tier-one customer” status revoked, meaning that HTC’s orders may no longer be a priority for their manufacturers.

According to the report, it was thanks to an unnamed executive who decided to share this information and enlighten us on the real reason behind the delay. We know that HTC has been facing some financial problems for a while now, and this is the reason why the company has decided to drastically reduce the amount of smartphones they roll out on a yearly basis. We’re sure that HTC is banking on the HTC One to help revive some interest in the company’s products, but in the meantime if the rumors are to be believed, HTC’s component manufacturers are not letting them do that.

In fact the report also goes on to allege that HTC’s CEO, Peter Chou, has offered to resign should the HTC One fail to be a hit with customers. What do you guys think? Any credibility to this rumor?
