HTC’s Jeff Gordon Explains Why US And UK HTC One Models Have No MicroSD Expansion

HTC-One-33While the HTC One comes with a fair amount of storage, we’re sure that there are users out there who feel that the default amount is not enough, especially for those who rely heavily on their mobile phones for movies, music, games and more. Interestingly though HTC has decided not to include microSD storage for the US and UK variants of the HTC One, instead opting to give that feature to China’s version of the phone. Well if you’re wondering what gives, HTC’s Senior Global Online Communications Manager, Jeff Gordon, explained why this is the case.

According to Gordon, China’s version of the HTC One was designed for smaller radio bands, meaning that it took up less space inside the phone itself. It is because of that that HTC decided that there was enough room to fit a microSD card slot. This also applies to the Japan variant, but unfortunately for those who own the global version of the HTC One, the larger radio bands meant more space was needed, therefore HTC had to omit the microSD card slot for those models. This is pretty important since the lack of storage can be a make-or-break decision for some customers. Either way if you’re not put off by the lack of microSD, check out our review of the HTC One if you’d like to learn more about the phone before purchasing.
