starcraft2-heart-of-the-swarm-logoIf you have a friend who’s thinking about joining you in StarCraft 2 but is not sure if they should purchase the game, chances are you have probably heard of the Starter Edition version of the game where gamers. While this will let players enjoy some features of Wings of Liberty, considering that the Heart of the Swarm expansion is out, what about gamers who want to play multiplayer but are restricted to Heart of the Swarm because the Starter Edition only allows Wings of Liberty content? Well it looks like Blizzard has done something to address that in the form of a new system called “spawning”.

Basically what this does is that it allows gamers with a Starter Edition copy of Wings of Liberty to be upgraded to Heart of the Swarm when playing with a friend or another player who has the expansion. For example if a player with a full copy of Wings of Liberty is player, the other player with the Starter Edition will only be able to enjoy Wings of Liberty content. However if the player has Heart of the Swarm, the player with the Starter Edition will be automatically upgraded. Blizzard has also announced that players who use the spawning feature will be able to get an in-game achievement and portrait.
