Microsoft Discounts Surface RT As Low As $199 For Schools

Microsoft has been showing some love to educators recently as they attempt to get rid of as many Surface RT tablets as possible considering they recently gave away a total of 10,000 of them to educators just last week. Today, Microsoft is announcing it is now cutting the price of its Surface RT by over 50% for schools who buy the tablet before September.

The Microsoft Surface RT normally retails for $499, but through Microsoft’s special promotion, the company will drop the price to $199 for schools while adding a Touch Cover will only bring the price up to $249, when it normally costs $599. The Surface RT with a Type Keyboard cover, which would cost $629, is being sold for only $289 during Microsoft’s promotional period.

The promotional discount program will end on August 31 and will only be good while supplies last, although Microsoft doesn’t indicate if there’s a minimum or maximum purchase requirement. Unfortunately, students can’t take part in this promotion as it’s only currently available to K-12 schools and universities.
