YouTube has announced that it is now allowing users with 100 or more subscribers to initiate a live stream. This opens up a whole new world for independent and small content creators on the world’s biggest video streaming website. Only recently, channels with 1,000 or more subscribers were allowed to live stream content. Access to the service is being rolled out gradually, so even if you have 100 or more subscribers but can’t see the option now, patiently wait for a few days.

Those who have received access to the live stream feature will now see an “Enable button” for YouTube Live on their account features page. Independent and small content creators now also get the ability to add custom thumbnails to videos as well as link to other websites or even online stores in video annotations. These features were previously only offered to “premium” YouTube users. Now, they can also place viewers in a series playlist. When a creator groups videos that belongs together, YouTube will automatically show their viewers the next video from the series as well a link to the entire playlist.
