Apple’s Pandora like music streaming service, iTunes Radio, will be released to the public on September 18th, the company announced today at its media event in Cupertino, California. The iTunes Radio service was first unveiled back at the Worldwide Developers Conference 2013 in June, since then it has only been available for developers. iTunes Radio will actually release alongside iOS 7, the latest update for Apple’s mobile operating system, which will be publicly released on September 18th as well.

At its media event today Apple made a couple of announcements, it finally unveiled the release date for iOS 7 as well as the launch date for iTunes Radio. The highlight of the event was the announcement of two new iPhones, the much rumored iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. Most of the rumors about these devices have turned out to be true, so many of the details didn’t come as a surprise. iTunes Radio can be accessed through iOS devices as well as iTunes on Windows and Mac, the free version will be ad-supported. Customers who subscribe to iTunes Match, which costs $24.99 per year, will have an ad-free experience. Even though iTunes Radio has been dubbed as a Pandora-killer by many people, Pandora is non-plussed. It believes that the service only brings Apple at par with other music streaming services.
