powershot-gx1-1It is that time of the year again, where a slew of new digital cameras are introduced to the masses in order to update the old. The Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II has been announced, where it will feature enhanced optics, wireless connectivity as well as creative shooting options. We are looking at a new kind of 1.5” CMOS sensor that is accompanied by a 5x zoom lens, NFC support, as well as a 3” Full HD touch tilt LCD display.

The sensor found in the Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II happens to be 4.5x larger compared to a 1/1.7″ sensor which is found in professional level point-and-shoot cameras, allowing it to deliver an ISO range of 100-12800. This sensor will work alongside the DIGIC 6 Image Processor that is made up of the Canon HS SYSTEM, so that the avid shutterbug gets to enjoy faster autofocusing speeds. Not only that, the new f/2.0 – f/3.9, 5x optical zoom lens (equivalent 24-120mm zoom range) with Dual Control Rings would offer customized zooming and focus-functionality that is similar to a DSLR camera. There are also 31 autofocus points found in the Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II digital camera, and those who are interested in picking it up will be able to do so in April for $799.99 a pop.
