Motorola’s Smartwatch Will Be Arriving Later This Year

motorola-logo-newIn 2014, it is safe to say that we can look forward to more wearable devices hitting the market. In fact we’ve already seen Samsung release a trio of wearable devices in the form of the Galaxy Gear 2, Galaxy Gear Neo, and the Galaxy Gear Fit. That being said, we’re sure Motorola doesn’t want to be left out of the picture, considering that they hit the market pretty early with the MOTOACTV a couple of years ago.

Well fret not Motorola fans because according to a recent tweet by Motorola’s Rick Osterloh, it seems that Motorola will be launching their own smartwatch that will be available later this year, although we’re not sure if by then Motorola will be under Lenovo’s banner or if they will still be part of Google as the deal has not been closed yet

According to the tweet, it seems that there will be a couple of issues that Motorola will be addressing with their own smartwatch, namely style and battery life. “We are working on a watch that will be available this year. We aim to address consumer issues like style & battery life”

Back in 2013 when the first Samsung Galaxy Gear was launched, one of the main problems about the watch was its battery life which was pegged at a day’s use before requiring charging. It was a little ridiculous that one would have to charge their watch on a daily basis, which might explain why the first Galaxy Gear did not exactly take off in a big way.

There is also the problem with style, with many smartwatches typically looking very similar to one another, and due to all the hardware, results in a somewhat bulky device for your wrist. Assuming these are issues Motorola can address, we might have a winner on our hands. What do you guys think?
