HTC One Android 4.4 Update Release Halted Across The Pond

Its no secret that those of us who have supported devices have been waiting for the latest iteration of Android to drop. Google launched Android 4.4 KitKat late last year and the first priority was its own crop of Nexus devices. Other OEMs usually take some time before they roll out an update, the wait is even longer if devices are locked to a mobile carrier, since they take even more time in certifying an update. After all these processes the HTC One Android 4.4 update was finally released in the UK recently, only to be halted by the company.

It was brought to HTC’s attention that a “limited number” of HTC One users across the pond had been experiencing difficulties with the Android 4.4 KitKat. To stop the issue from plaguing devices of more of its customers, HTC has decided that all over-the-air updates for its 2013 flagship are to be temporarily suspended.

The company hasn’t gone into specifics and hasn’t revealed exactly what problems are being faced by users who had actually installed the update. Instead, it says that it is “working hard” to resolve the issue quickly. The company hasn’t provided a time frame in which the roll out is going to begin again. Readers across the pond can only play the waiting game for now.
