iPhone 6 Price Could Be Raised By $100 [Analyst]

It may only have been a few months since Apple released its two new iPhones, rumors about the next generation iPhones have already started circulating. It is widely believed that this year the company is going to release two iPhones once again. This is also believed to be the first time that it significantly bumps up the display sizes, with 4.7 inches and 5.7 inches being the rumored display sizes. If analyst Andy Hargreaves of Pacific Crest is to be believed, display size may not be the only thing being bumped up in the next iPhone.

The subsidized price of iPhone has been $199, for the base model. Hargreaves predicts that with the iPhone 6 Apple is going to raise it to $299. If this happens, it would have a domino effect and $100 would be raised on other models as well. There has traditionally been a $100 difference in the price of models that only vary based on storage offered.

The analyst holds the view that this won’t have a significant effect since “Apple customers are relatively insensitive to price.” In simple terms, he implies that most of Apple’s iPhone customers don’t care if the price goes up as long as its a new iPhone. Is that too big of an assumption or do you really believe that is indeed the case? Hargreaves says that Apple won’t be straying away from traditional release cycles and will be launching the iPhone 6 this Fall.
