There was one announcement that Sony made at its E3 2014 press conference that caught many of us by surprise. Some are even saying that this was their favorite announcement of the evening. It has been confirmed that Grim Fandango for PS4 and PS Vita are going to be released in the future. This surprise revamp of the original game, which came out back in 1998, will be exclusive to Sony’s consoles.
Grim Fandango is a favorite for adventure game enthusiasts most of who believe that this LucasArts classic excels at the art of storytelling. Since then many fans may have longed for the opportunity to revisit this neo-noir take on Mexican folklore but there hasn’t been a way to get this game on modern gaming consoles.
Interestingly enough when Grim Fandango was first launched back in 1998 it didn’t exactly turn out to be a commercial success, not selling as many copies as the developer would have wanted. But there’s no denying the fact that it has a dedicated audience, and its revival for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita will ensure that new audiences get to experience it as well.
Unfortunately it wasn’t revealed when Grim Fandango for PS4 and PS Vita is going to be released. We’ll have to stay put for that information, but at least now we know that its coming at some point in the future.
