kitkat-callingAh, there is nothing quite like having a software update to existing hardware that will help it keep up with the Joneses, compared to having to purchase a new device outright, as what one would have done in the past. Asus has announced that they have begun to roll out the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Padfone Infinity as well as the Fonepad Note 6, and one ought to take note that this particular software update will also include the most recent ZenUI that features refreshed visuals.

Do bear in mind that the latest Android 4.4 KitKat update is not all about throwing in a slew of new features, as it will also include some housekeeping – and that includes the removal of other apps that were previously loaded by Asus. This means the likes of Buddybuzz, Car Home, Watch Calendar, My Library, My Bit cast, Pinpal, ASUS Sync, ASUS Echo, AO Link, Birthday Reminder, Mode Manager, System Bar Lock, Device tracker, Floating app and Quick Tool will be sent to the app abyss, which is a good thing for those who want a less cluttered user experience.

Do bear in mind that the updates are rather large in size, so you might want to make sure that your corresponding device is hooked up to a Wi-Fi connection and has enough juice to get the update done. The Padfone Inifinity’s update weighs in at 1GB, while the Fonepad Note 6 has a 1.15GB-sized update.
