HTC Teases Upcoming 64-bit Octa-core Smartphone

HTC-Octa-730x529When it comes to Android handsets, HTC’s Desire lineup does not necessarily conjure up images of high-end handsets with beautifully crafted bodies and amazing specs. However it seems that HTC could be thinking of changing that with an upcoming Desire smartphone that has been given the “820” moniker.

Now according to previous reports, it was suggested that HTC could be planning a Desire handset with an octa-core 64-bit chipset. Given that there aren’t that many octa-core handsets or 64-bit handsets at the moment, this could be quite groundbreaking for HTC. Well if you were wondering how true those reports are, wonder no more as HTC has since teased such a device on their Weibo page which you can see in the image above.

According to the image, it basically invites users to an event held on the 4th of September (which would be during IFA 2014) and where HTC is expected to debut an octa-core 64-bit smartphone. Now apart from the new and possibly speedier processor, not much else is known about the HTC “820” which some believe is the successor to the HTC Desire 816. In any case we guess we’ll just have to wait until the official announcement so be sure to check back with us next week for the details!
