One of the fun aspects of games like Mario Kart is the fact that all the karts have been designed to look whimsical, thus taking out the serious nature of other racing games where the cars are all sleek and shiny. However as you must have heard, it was previously reported that a free Mercedes-Benz DLC would add the Mercedes-Benz GLA car to the game.

Well if you thought that was pretty cool and wouldn’t mind more of these cars, you’re in luck because it seems that the upcoming Mario Kart 8 DLC will add a 1950s 300 SL Roadster and a 1930s Silver Arrow. The DLC has been announced for the UK where it is expected to arrive on the 27th of August.

The DLC is free, like we said earlier, but there is no word on when it will arrive in the US. However previous reports did mention it would arrive in the summer but so far we have not heard any specific dates yet. Now admittedly the additions of the new cars are pretty cool and adds an interesting dynamics to the game.

However it also seems that not everyone is too pleased about the new cars. Some felt that Nintendo “sold out” when they agreed to partner with Mercedes-Benz for the DLC, but what do you guys think? Did Nintendo sell out, and if they did, does it even matter?
