5.5-inch iPhone 6 In Landscape Mode Could Gain iPad-like UI [Rumor]

ios-simulator-screen-shot-8-sep-2014-03-57-25One of the benefits to using tablets is that they tend to have a bigger display. This comes in handy when viewing emails and writing up documents as the extra screen real estate would allow for more viewing room as well as added functionality, such as side menus and whatnot. Now according to the rumors, one of the rumored sizes of the iPhone 6 is a 5.5-inch model, and thanks to developer Steven Troughton-Smith (via 9to5Mac), he has simulated what landscape mode on the larger iPhone 6 could look like.

Basically what Troughton-Smith has done was take the iOS simulator and flipped the resolution so that it will run at 736×414. As you can see in the screenshots, running it in this mode would allow apps to display more information, like in the case of the Contacts app, you could see your contacts on the left, while the contact you selected will have their information displayed on the right.

This is pretty much the same layout as the iPad when used in landscape mode. Now it should be noted that Apple themselves had built this feature into the iOS simulator themselves under “Adaptive UI” and was apparently discussed during one of the sessions that Apple held at WWDC 2014.

Of course there’s no way to guarantee that such a layout would actually make an appearance in iOS 8 and in the 5.5-inch iPhone 6, but given the larger screen, we think users wouldn’t mind if Apple would create a more optimized user interface for it. In any case what do you guys think? Is this something you’d like to see in the iPhone 6?
