BlackBerry Hybrid Phone Hinges Work This Way

bb-victoriaSlightly more than a week ago, we brought you word that BlackBerry could very well be working on a new hybrid device that is known as either Visa or Victoria (why did they not go with Visa or Master?). It is said that those handsets will be different – very different from the recently released BlackBerry Passport in terms of its hardware specifications and make up, especially since this one features a keyboard that can be partially hidden.

The above image would depict the way the mechanism works whenever you would need to type – and vice versa. Basically, the “Visa” or “Victoria” will both arrive alongside a large touchscreen display as well as a swiveling keypad, and this keypad is special since it can be tucked away when not in use.

This happens to be BlackBerry’s patent #8,830,667, where it has been dated September 9th and described to be a “storable keyboard having a pivoting cover“. Do you think that the BlackBerry Visa/BlackBerry Victoria will be able to make quite an impact on the smartphone scene when it arrives, or is it a case of being a little too late? As with any other good rumor, only time will be able to tell, but at least we now know how the mechanism works!
