Sony has made a habit of releasing the Android 4.4.4 update for a bunch of its Xperia devices at the same time. Today brings a similar rollout of the latest Android version for four Xperia devices which includes the Tablet Z as well apart from three smartphones. The Android 4.4.4 update is now available for Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and the aforementioned Xperia Tablet Z.

The software version number is 10.5.1.A.0.283 and it brings an update to the latest Android OS release from Google, version 4.4.4 KitKat. There are a handful of stability and performance improvements included in this update apart from the usual slew of bug fixes and tweaks.

Some background applications will now not drain the battery as much as they previously used to. Users will also notice performance enhancement and improved email stability. General improvements have been made to Calendar, Wi-Fi, Contacts, MMS and more. All of Sony’s latest bug fixes and enhancements are included in this update.

The Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is rolling out now for Sony Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z. It will reach devices over-the-air which means users might have to wait for a couple of days for this update to go live in their region. Once it does a notification will pop up on the device, ensure that it has ample charge left in the battery before going ahead with the update.
