Now that Google has confirmed the roll out of Android 5.0 Lollipop the inevitable will soon happen. People will start asking when the update is going to be released for their devices. Some OEMs have already confirmed their roadmaps while others have maintained radio silence over the matter. As far as Samsung is concerned a new report suggests that the Galaxy S4 i9500 Android 5.0 Lollipop update will be released in 2015.

It goes without saying that Samsung’s flagships from 2014 will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop fairly quickly, these include the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note 4. There have already been demos of Lollipop on the Galaxy S5.

According to reports the Galaxy S4 model number i9500, which is powered by the company’s own Exynos processor, is going to be the first to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop early next year. Delay from carriers could cause the release to take longer than users would want.

The update may also be released for Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505, a variant of the same device that’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, but at a later time. Galaxy S4 Active i9295 is also expected to receive the update alongside the i9505.

Samsung is yet to release an official timeframe which formally confirms when and on what devices the Lollipop update will be released next year. So far there’s silence from the company on that front.
